Little Bucks

We spent the weekend camping with the Loubets at the Hutchins Group Camp near Bucks Lake.  There was mountain biking, fishing, and hiking.  But the highlight for me was a post-sunset paddle on Lower Bucks with VSO.  Beautiful.

GC2 Turns Two Hundred

Wednesday, at Painted Rock, NV, GC2 turned 200,000.  Miles that is.  We were on I-80, leaving Fernley and headed for Susanville.  Both the car and GC1 turned 200,000 a long time ago.  (The car is approaching 300,000.)  Now the whole fleet has reached this milestone.  And, no, my reader should not be alarmed by the cracked windshield or check engine light:  They are not nearly as bad as the bald tires.

Snow Ball Fight

Over the weekend we went to the meadow below Brian Head Peak.  While hiking, we crossed a snow field left-over from last winter.  We had a brief snow ball fight.  EDO hit me on the back-side with this throw and the snowball went into my back pocket.  The throwing action was, however, so vigorous that she nearly fell on her face.  Serves her right.

Review of the Arts

It has been a month or two since I walked through the studio.  Yesterday, I took a look and noticed these two beauties.  One is from Three Peaks in Iron County (above) and the other is from the Escalante River Canyon in Garfield County (below).  I believe they are scheduled for VSO's Anasazi Museum show in Boulder during August, so check them out.

Brumley Debut

As I may have mentioned before, sometimes we all sit down in front of the wood stove at The Homestead to play the guitars.  Mostly we cover country and bluegrass classics, but it has also been fun to write a few of our own songs.  Today, over on YouTube, we are debuting one that was inspired by our favorite Albert Brumley hymn.  Click to listen.

McCoy

Today I soloed McCoy.  When I started out, I was against the dark edge of a thunderstorm.  But, as I rounded the island and headed back towards the Chev, it was almost glassy.

Diamond Detour

I wanted to go up to the ridge leading to Diamond Mountain.  I eventually reached the ridge, and made it all the way to the summit, too.  But, before that, I started up this meadow for about a quarter of a mile until I ran into a bear.  Figuratively, that is.  Literally, I turned around and went another way.
