Dreamy

It has been bright and sunny for several weeks.  And hot.  Making pictures in the bright hot sun is not recommended.  But, this weekend, beneath the Tushars, some of them came out looking dreamy.

Fat Tire Weekend

The girls have been riding their mountain bikes every day.  This weekend they wanted me to join them at Eagle Point.  We went out yesterday and I turned a pleasant morning into a death march, pushing us all to the top of Tushar Ridge in a long hour of steep climbing.  They had bounced back by today, and we went over to the gentlerElk Meadowsside of the ski area.  There are a couple of nice trails with steady climbing, but nothing too steep.  They each rode eight or ten miles of it.  Of the two of them, VSO is a better technical rider, but EDO has the lungs.

Roast the Weenies Over Charcoal Please

We were in the gorge yesterday afternoon.  It should have been quiet, but the air tankers were going back and forth from Cedar City to Brian Head so we could hear traffic overhead.  It is fortunate for the town of Brian Head that the tanker base is just a few minutes away.  Otherwise it seems like the place could have burned down.  It is the fourth human caused fire in the local area in the past week and a half.  People.  You don't need a camp fire today.  Put it out.

EDO's Summit Route

Last year, EDO looked up at the summit of Brian Head from where we were parked on the highway and asked me if she could climb to the top.  I kicked her out of the car and off she wenta 12-year-old on a mission.  I walked in the other direction for an hour or two and, when we got back together, she said that she had been surprised to find a fat man on the summit eating cheese-its, talking on his phone, and asking her where she'd come from.  Not so yesterday.  We climbed her summit ridge together and found, of course, no one on the top because the road is currently blocked by snow.

Over the Crik

With a pretty good snow-pack and a steady run-off, the creeks have been up.  Crossing can be tricky.  EDO shows how.
