Despite the furnace (and all the heaters posted below), the real locus of heat is the wood stove. It is a Jotul. But, if you go to Jotul's webpage, you can't find anything like it (http://www.jotul.com/en-us/wwwjotulus/). So, I'm not sure when or where it was made. Anybody have a guess? In any case, Valerie thinks it looks like a monument from Easter Island.
I agree with V, it does look like one of those rocks from Easter Island but with no eyes, big brow, nose ring, and little round mouth.

I have a Majestic copy of the Jotul that I purchased in the 1970s. Majestic apparently was licensed to cast them in the US to reduce shipping costs. When I purchased it they were being closed out, I suspect that model going out of production, I am still using it however, and find it an excellent supplementary stove as it lacks a convenient ash removal tray for full time use, It burns quite efficiently, and on a cold Minnesota evening is very comforting.
ReplyDeleteVery good stove I just find one in Norway and I took him to France in the Jura. We're really happy.
ReplyDeleteWe have one in our house bought by the origional owner in 1976 - the Jotul owners manual says it was specifically designed based on the Easter Island heads in recognition of Thor Heyerdal and his work there.
